Dear Friends,
I wonder what emotions you feel as you look ahead to Christmas. Perhaps excitement at the opportunity to spend time with loved ones; anticipation for that present you’ve been longing for; relief at the chance for some time off; or maybe you’re just hoping to let Christmas quietly pass you by. We all have different feelings as we look forward to this season.
A man named Paul once wrote to the church in Rome. In his letter, he explained what the first Christmas was about — God coming to us as a baby named Jesus — and how his coming changed everything. He shared how that reality brought him hope, and how he knew it could bring them hope too:
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13
So, whatever this Christmas holds for you, I hope you too will experience the deep and lasting hope that Jesus still brings today.
Merry Christmas,
Jack
Minister of Dalmeny and Queensferry Parish
