The Ferry Fridge
The Ferry Fridge
Dalmeny and Queensferry Parish has obtained a grant which has enabled us to buy a Community Fridge. It will be situated in the Coffee Lounge at Queensferry Parish Church on The Loan. Entrance is through the glass doors.
While this is a church initiative, it is intended that the Fridge will be open to ALL in our community.
The church has membership of FareShare, through our community cafes in both Dalmeny and Queensferry. FareShare is the UK’s national charitable network which redistributes good quality and nutritious surplus food from supermarkets. We use some of this food in our cafes – Connections Cafe & Dalmeny Kirk Cafe , and to support people in our community, including through the Foodbank.
However, we can do more with our resources! So, we’ve joined the Community Fridge network, which exists to reduce food waste and foster a spirit of sharing and mutual support within a community. Food in the Fridge is provided free of charge, although if you wish to make a cash or card donation you’re able to when you pop in. All donations go back into paying for the running of the fridge.
The church will provide some food, but it is open to the community to donate food too.
