Queensferry Parish Church is a registered Eco-Congregation and gained its first award in 2009. Under the new Eco-Congregation award scheme we were awarded our Bronze award in January 2018 and our Silver Award in May 2019. We have now reached Gold in May 2025!

This follows our submission and an assessment on Monday 12th May when two assessors visited and looked into the work of the church from our Social Justice to our Property groups, our links with the wider community and lots more! We were delighted to be told on the day that they were recommending us for Gold and even more amazed to discover we are only the 12th congregation in Scotland to be awarded their highest award.

In the award letter which arrived this week the assessors said that it was a pleasure to see the commitment and enthusiasm within the congregation. They particularly commended the congregation for the following:

• The very evident “team working” across groups and involvement of all in the eco work, which is truly embedded in the life and work of the congregation.

• The support for and participation in such a wide variety of community environmental groups

• The involvement of congregation leaders and the embedding of environmental issues into the spiritual life of the congregation.

• The hard work and attention to detail that has gone into the Heat Hack initiative.

• The range of events run, open to the community, which raise awareness of and encourage action on environmental issues.

• Level of engagement with Christian Aid.

• Holding an Election Hustings and taking action to lobby politicians on Climate Change.

We are a founder member of ‘Plastic Free Queensferry’ – working towards reducing the use of single use plastic in Queensferry (and further afield)

We are working with local organisations to promote an more environmentally sustainable Queensferry

Talking Climate Justice

Queensferry Parish Church hosted a ‘Talking Climate Justice’ Event in March 2024. This was led by Christian Aid and asked the church and congregation to discuss the issues facing us linked to climate change. The information gathered from the groups discussion will be taken to the DQPC Social Justice Group to develop an action plan for the church.
