We are glad to receive all requests for prayer – big, small, personal or universal.
Contact details are welcomed, but anonymous requests for prayer are gratefully received. Please leave your details if you’re happy for us to get in touch for updates.
Prayer Stations in QPC
Meditations on windows and items in our sanctuary which have a special meaning for our congregation.
We begin with a new window ‘The Shepherd‘ commissioned to celebrate the life of Rev John Carrie minister from 1971 to 2008
‘The Knight’ commemorates members of the congregation who served in WW 1.
In Queensferry we celebrate the life of ‘Queen Margaret’ who not only gave our town its name but whose Christian heritage is an example to us all.
‘The Banners’ are a reminder of our church organisations and the part they play in the life of the church..

The Power of Prayer
At Dalmeny and Queensferry Parish church we are developing an active prayer ministry.
Prayer can be personal just to you or it can be communal, as when we pray in worship.
To facilitate personal prayers we have a group known as the Prayer Circle who pray at home on their own and in confidence for people in our church or community who are in need of prayer.
They also like to give thanks for special events like births and marriages.

Our home groups also hold a time of prayer each time they meet.
We open and close our business meetings with prayer asking God to help us work together for the good of the church and community.
We hold days of prayer and meditation twice a year when we offer a series of prayer stations to help us pray through a theme.
We support national and international prayer events like “Thy Kingdom Come,” “Together we Pray,” “Try Praying”.
We encourage Daily Bible Reading which in its turn helps us to pray.

For those who are into technology we can recommend several apps which members of the congregation are currently using. Prayer Mate, and You Version Bible App where you can access a copy of your favourite version of the Bible and have it with you at all times.
Prayer diaries are available from many organisations and the Church of Scotland Social Care department CrossReach supplies us with their calendar each year. Available in the vestibule.
Healing Prayer Ministry
The Healing Ministry is a gentle, loving, compassionate Ministry which includes the laying on of hands. It follows the command that Jesus gives his disciples (Mathew 10) when He sent them out to heal all kinds of sickness and disease and again, in James 5:14, when we are given the instruction if anyone is ill to send for Church. Elders will pray for them in the name of Jesus.
In 1940 -1950, a group of Glasgow ministers introduced Healing Ministry into their Parishes. The movement spread all over Scotland and by 1980 -2000 the Ministry was seen as part of the work and witness of a congregation.
The International Healing Rooms Scotland came into being and in 2005 the Healing on the Streets (which came from Coleraine in Ireland) came to Edinburgh. Many healings were seen during that time.
Today Light and Life who are based in Glasgow, minister in various places and see all kinds of healing and witness people who accept Jesus into their lives who have never known His love. God’s promise to heal is as true today as it was in the 1st Century A.D. God can use anyone who has a desire in their heart to reach out to others, for we are channels of God’s grace and healing Holy Spirit for the Glory goes to God.

Prayer Walks
A guided walk, beginning and ending at QPC, focusing prayerfully on our relationship with nature and history.
Turn left out of church and take the first left onto Station Road. Continuing a short while, you
will come across a monkey puzzle tree on your right. Although native to Chile, these trees can thrive in cold temperatures and abundant rainfall, living up to 1,000 years!
—LORD, help me to be resilient and to show patience.
Head along Station Road and before too long you will see the entrance to Station Road Park (formerly The Rose Garden) on the left. Head inside and take note of the sign, which provides detailed information about the different trees and flowers you will find in the
park.
—LORD, thank you for the abundance and variety of your creation. We rejoice in the breadth and depth of your love, remembering as we look on all this detail and wonder that “even the very hairs on [our] head are numbered.”
Walkers looking to avoid steps should take the right-hand path through the park, but both will bring you out onto a narrow path – turn left onto this. On a still day, you will hear the rushing waters of the Ferry Burn, masked by a chaos of green below!
— LORD, we pray for those for whom access to clean and safe water is a daily struggle, and know that we are blessed to have access to green and vibrant places like these.
Follow the path as it bends to the left, passing a set of stairs, and you will be on a heading back towards church with a wall on your left-hand side and foliage to the right. After a short distance, you will come across a viewpoint and a sign with a wonderful view of the town and the three bridges (D)!
— LORD, Queensferry has helped people to live and to thrive for hundreds of years. Looking at the bridges from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, we thank you for the natural resources which we have relied upon, and pray for guidance in managing these resources.
Keep walking and within a few minutes you will emerge back onto The Loan, with the church on your left. Well done you! Pop inside for a drink and have a rest. As you reflect on the walk, consider the following verse from Isaiah 55:12. What can God’s creation reveal to us about his character and grace?
— “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.”
