A Christmas Message

To all in Dalmeny and South Queensferry Parish Church

As Christmas fast approaches, I imagine that it is a time of busyness for many of us. We rush to get things checked off our lists, ensuring we are prepared for the coming festivities, that we have presents for everyone, that food is bought, and a plan is made.

Advent and the lead-up to Christmas have historically been a time when people have waited on God’s coming – and what that might mean for them.  And the new year that follows is also often a time of reflection. A time to take stock of the highs and lows of the year past and consider our hopes for the year to come.

This year has certainly been a year of change for our church – with a Union and a new Minister! And I know that it has also been a year of change in the lives of many of us, too. Yet, amid the change, we know that it is the same unchanging God who we worship, who entered into our world at Christmas time, and who longs to enter into our lives and be with us now – to bring his peace that passes all understanding.

Can finish by thanking you all so much for the warm welcome and great support that you have given to me and my family as we settled in. It has been lovely to become part of the church family here.

May we all know the blessing of Emmanuel, God with us, this Christmas

With blessings,

Jack
