It has been a busy old summer at both Connections and Dalmeny Kirk Cafe and there hasn’t been much chance to update the DQPC community on what we have been up to!! The summer began with Jewellery and Card Making sessions at Dalmeny. It was a great couple of days and we have an adorable model for one of the necklaces!
The crafty theme continued into the following week at Connections Cafe with summer plates, rainbows and bird feeders.
There was something a bit fishy happening at Connections at the end of July with Under the Sea crafts. We saw some wonderful creations out of kitchen roll tubes and googly eyes with fantastic decoration.
Our summer craft sessions finished in Ferry Fair week with Burrymen and Crowns at Dalmeny. A local Princess shows off one of the crowns beautifully!!
Over the 8 craft sessions, around 240 children and 160 adults came along to our cafes and enjoyed the activities along with coffee and cake – all either for free or an affordable donation. What a feeling it is to know we are engaging with our community in this way and providing a safe inclusive environment for so many families. We all know how expensive it can be to entertain children over the holidays so if DQPC has eased this burden for families in any small way then we are achieving one of our most important aims.
A huge thank you to all our volunteers who helped make these events happen.
